BAYPACKETS ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR 3G MOBILE NETWORKS

Agility Network Services Platform Extended to Enable Creation and Delivery of Voice VPN, Pre-Paid, Conferencing, and Voice Messaging Applications Based on 3GPP IMS Standard

CTIA Wireless, Atlanta, GA. - March 22, 2004 - BayPackets, Inc., a provider of converged platforms and applications for wireless, wireline and cable operators, today announced that it has extended the capabilities of its Agility Network Services Platform (NSP) to incorporate the 3GPP (IP Multimedia Subsystem) IMS standard. In addition to full support of SS7 and SIP, the Agility NSP supports wireless protocols including WIN and CAMEL and interfaces with network-based location and presence servers. By adding support for key wireless standards, mobile carriers can now leverage BayPackets' converged platform to bundle and deploy advanced voice and data services on their TDM, VoIP, or Wireless network infrastructure.

"This opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for wireless service providers and mobile virtual network operators," said Ken Epps, President and CEO of BayPackets. "Carriers can now utilize the advanced routing and messaging capabilities available through BayPackets' Agility Network Services Platform to provide highly relevant, customized services such as mobile VPN, pre-paid, conferencing, find-me, follow-me, real-time call routing, and visual voicemail to their customers. In today's heated telecom market, these targeted services are an important differentiator for service providers."

BayPackets' converged platform integrates with wireless service providers' presence and location servers, enabling carriers to deliver real-time and location-based services. For example, a mobile operator can route calls to a person's home, work, cell or desktop soft phone, depending upon where the subscriber is located. They can also deliver advanced location-based services built by BayPackets' Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners for vertical industry segments such as transportation, fleet management, field service, and sales force automation as well as integrated services such as a wireless/wireline VPN solution available to a mobile operator's enterprise customers.

"Voice application servers are highly desired by carriers as platforms to create and deliver the crux of next gen voice networks: new applications and services," said Kevin Mitchell, Directing Analyst, Service Provider Networks & Next Gen Voice at Infonetics Research. "As competition intensifies in telecom, the ability to customize and rapidly deploy services tailored to the needs of customers will be key to outpacing competitive threats."

BayPackets' Agility NSP, which enables PSTN connectivity through an SS7 interface and next-generation connectivity through a SIP interface, can be deployed as a next-generation Service Control Point (SCP) or as an application server in a carrier's network. The platform's full-featured service creation environment also enables carriers to use JAIN and Parlay and develop and deploy their own advanced services that work on wireless, VOIP, and TDM networks. Additionally, because it is an open standards-based platform, the Agility NSP supports deployments of third-party applications across carrier networks.
