Announces General Availability of Parlay/OSA Gateway and
Advanced Call Center
Application
SUPERCOMM - Chicago, IL - June 7, 2005 - BayPackets,
Inc., a leader in providing IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) compliant
multi-network voice and data solutions for wireless, wireline and cable
operators, today announced it has expanded its IMS service delivery framework
with the addition of a Parlay OSA Gateway. The Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway
separates the complexity of the network from the application layer, enabling
carriers to quickly and affordably deploy new revenue-generating data, voice,
messaging and multimedia services across converged networks. BayPackets will
demonstrate its IMS offering, including its new Agility Advanced Call Center
application, in BayPackets' booth #86056 and as part of an integrated IMS
demonstration at IBM booth #64045 at Supercomm in Chicago, Illinois June 7-9,
2005.
"Intense competition, declining Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and the
projected explosion of services driven by IP multimedia endpoints will require
a paradigm shift in how services are deployed and managed in the future," said
Graham Finnie, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. "Wireline operators and cable
MSOs will increasingly partner with wireless carriers to provide voice, video
and data services over diverse networks. As they do so, the ability to abstract
wireless and wireline network interfaces into a standardized set of application
programming interface APIs becomes essential, and Parlay/OSA Gateways will play
a critical role in the integration of enterprise applications with telephony
infrastructure, enabling network operators to develop and deploy new
revenue-generating services."
BayPackets' Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway is a fully compliant implementation of
Parlay Version 4.1 and Parlay-X 1.0 standards that integrates telecom network
capabilities with IT applications via a secure, measured, and billable
interface. Its open standards-based application programming interfaces (APIs)
eliminate the need for developers to write code for specific networks and
environments, reducing the risk and cost of development. The Agility Parlay/OSA
Gateway interoperates with IBM 's WebSphere Everywhere Server for Telecom
(WES-T), as well as diverse hardware platforms such as IBM Blade Center and SUN
Netra Servers.
"BayPackets' Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway is a leading-edge service layer solution
that will help make fixed-mobile convergence a reality for service providers,"
said Stephen Laufer, Global Partner and Solutions Manager, IBM Network
Transformation and Service Delivery Platforms. "IBM's WebSphere EveryPlace
Server, combined with the Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway, enables carriers to
create additional revenue channels by bringing enterprise applications into
service providers' telephony framework. We look forward to working with
BayPackets to help carriers create and deploy new services regardless of
network."
BayPackets is also announcing availability of its Agility Advanced Call Center
solution, which is compliant with the Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway and Agility
SIP Application Server. The application enables service providers to offer
IP-based, toll-free routing services to enterprises with high volumes of
call-in traffic, such as sales, customer service or technical support
departments. Agility Advanced Call Center allows calls to be routed and
prioritized according to a wide range of criteria, such as location of origin
and time of day, helping service providers streamline call flows,
cost-effectively manage networks systems and enhance the end-user experience.
BayPackets' service layer IMS solution includes the following carrier-grade,
highly scalable products:
Agility SIP Application Server:
- Support of JSR 116 SIP servlets and JAIN
- Converged applications through support of ISC, SIP, HTTP
- Application composition
- IP multimedia endpoints
- Service building blocks
Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway:
- Support of external enterprise verticals
- Enables fixed-mobile convergence
- Migration from legacy to IP
- Enablement of content providers
- Support of multiple protocols - ISC/SIP, MGCP, AIN, CAMEL, Sh
- Support of WebSphere Application Server
In addition to the SIP Application Server and Parlay/OSA Gateway, BayPackets
plans to launch a Mobility Management Application Server (MMAS) product later
this year. MMAS uses existing standards to enable the delivery of services over
multiple access networks, including: mobile, cable, DSL and Wi-Fi, via a single
number. MMAS also cost optimizes communications expenses for enterprise and
residential users by enabling them to leverage WiFi and other high bandwidth
infrastructure for more efficient network usage.
"BayPackets now offers the industry's most complete IMS service layer solution,
enabling network and application interoperability and the secure, efficient
delivery of multimedia services across all types of access networks," said
Sanjeev Chawla, BayPackets Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. "By
creating a service layer that enables applications to interoperate with
disparate networks, BayPackets is empowering carriers to deliver on seamless
access to advanced communications services."
