Ringback Tone Product Honored For Outstanding Innovation
Fremont, CA - Jan 13, 2006
- BayPackets, Inc., a leader in providing IP Multimedia
Subsystem (IMS) compliant multi-network voice and
data solutions for wireless, wireline and cable operators,
today announced Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®)'s
INTERNET TELEPHONY® magazine (www.itmag.com)
has named BayPackets' Agility Multimedia Ringback
Tone its 2005 Product of the Year. The streaming media
solution enables wireless carriers and multiple system
cable operators (MSOs) to replace the typical "ring"
or busy sound callers hear when they dial that user's
number with recorded music, sound or video clips.
BayPackets is the first company to deliver IMS-compliance,
video capability, and advanced rules in a ringback
tone service.
"BayPackets' Multimedia Ringback Tone product
clearly stands out from the crowd in its advanced
capabilities and IMS compliance," said Rich Tehrani,
president of TMC. "This product is a smart move
for BayPackets, and positions them as a strong player
in the market. Service providers need to be on the
lookout for additional revenue sources as their margins
continue to thin, and ringback tones offer the potential
to generate significant revenue."
Agility Multimedia Ringback Tone is designed to drive
increased usage of next-generation mobile high-speed
network minutes, while also helping service providers
attract new subscribers, create recurring revenue
and bring in compelling service enhancements. According
to telecom consultancy Ovum, the worldwide market
for "ring backs" is projected to grow from
US$148 million in 2003 to US$2.4 billion by 2008.
"We are honored that TMC has recognized BayPackets'
Agiltiy Multimedia Ringtone as an outstanding product
that solves a real need for carriers," said Ken
Epps, CEO of BayPackets. "Mobile and VOIP operators
want to leverage their 3G and fixed line VoIP networks
to affordably deploy a host of new, high-bandwidth
multimedia services to subscribers. BayPackets' Multimedia
Ringback Tone does just that - enabling users to bring
the audio and video capabilities of their desktop
to the telephone for a highly personalized communications
experience."
Agility Multimedia Ringback Tone is as an enhancement
to BayPackets' Agility Personal Communications Manager,
a network-based solution that enables service providers
to deliver real-time call routing and call management
functions. Subscribers can utilize the application's
call manager functionality to customize ringback tones
for incoming calls, having different audio or - in
the case of VoIP and 3G customers - video clips play
for different callers based on the Caller ID, group
list, time of day or availability status. The application
is built on BayPackets' Agility SIP Application Server
and RealNetworks' Helix server.
BayPackets' Agility SIP Application Server (SAS)
conforms to the 3GPP IMS standard and includes a complete
Element Management System and Service Management System.
Backed by RealNetwork's powerful server software for
streaming media files across the Internet or mobile
networks, Baypackets' Agility SAS delivers content-rich
multimedia ringback tones from within a proven, extensible
platform.
